Last week, Rachael Molyneux and Lisa Owen attended the ICCA UK and Ireland Chapter Annual Conference that took place in Hull on 9 -10 September.
Whilst at the conference, Rachael and Lisa delivered a presentation called ‘The DNA of your city.’ This was a case study on creating a city’s DNA. The presentation focussed on what has worked well over the past year and what Liverpool will be taking forward to inject into its DNA.
The presentation was followed by a round table session, where delegates developed an action plan to take forward.
The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Moving Forwards – Dare to be Different.’ There were some key outcomes from the conference:
Be more knowledgeable about equality, diversity and inclusion and how this impacts on the meetings industry.
Empower delegates, regardless of their rank within their organisation, to talk knowledgeably about diversity and inclusion and use it in their daily lives as a meeting professional.
Give delegates the knowledge to take on a strong role regarding sustainability in their organisations and to make everyone responsible for the future of the events industry.
To develop an Action Plan for the development of their organisation’s DNA to attract more face-to-face meetings and events post-pandemic.
71 delegates and speakers attended the conference. There was a great ‘buzz’ with people enjoying being back together, networking and attending a face to face event again.
The conference dinner was hosted at The Deep, one of the UK’s biggest aquariums!
The team really enjoyed catching up with industry colleagues and look forward to seeing everyone again soon, at the Meetings Show this month!
