There was great success for Liverpool at the annual M&IT (Meetings and Incentive Travel) Awards in London on Friday 2nd March, as the city won two impressive awards.
The M&IT Awards, held at Battersea Evolution in London, celebrate the best international venues, destinations and suppliers in the events industry. The awards are considered the most prestigious in the industry as they are the only ones in which the winners are decided by the number of votes from event organisers, rather than a panel of judges.
Liverpool Convention Bureau picked up the Bronze award for Best UK Convention Bureau, fighting off some big competition to finish in the top three.
There was also Gold for the city, as ACC Liverpool was chosen as the Best UK Conference Centre for an impressive sixth consecutive year. The ACC Group – home to BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena and Exhibition Centre Liverpool – has a busy year of events ahead, including the International Business Festival in June, the annual Labour Party conference in September, and preparing for the Netball World Cup in July 2019.
Jennifer Jensen, Head of Business Tourism at Liverpool Convention Bureau, said “This is brilliant news for the Bureau and the City. Thank you to all those who voted for us to secure Bronze status once again. We like to feel we go above and beyond for our organisers but to be recognised for this by them and their votes is an honour. With ACC Liverpool picking up Gold as well, it’s widely recognised that this is a fantastic conference and event location and 2018 will only further prove that.”
ACC Liverpool’s Commercial Director, Ben Williams, said: “We are honoured to have retained this award, considered the most prestigious in the events industry, for the sixth year running.
“The award reflects not only the product and services of the venue but is also representative of the city’s support network that enables us to bid for and attract global events to experience Liverpool as a world-class meeting and event destination.”
